TKE Talks

Bryan Scott Smith

Frater Bryan Scott Smith conveys wisdom about leadership through service to others for  the Spring 2024 TKE Talk.

Scott (class of 1991) was the youngest Co-Founder and President of a New York Stock Exchange Listed Company (Sonic Automotive) in 1997, at the age of 29. Sonic Automotive is a Fortune 300 Company with 9,000 employees and annual revenues of approximately $15 Billion.

During the TKE Talk, Scott shared his leadership journey from the time he was in pop-warner football, through his years as Rollins serving as its first Prytanis since re-colonization and finally as the Co-Founder and President of Sonic Automotive. He provided valuable insight on what it was like to build Sonic as a company to take it public, what he learned about himself and how he grew as a person through challenges.  The most important takeaways Scott relayed to the Rollins students is believe in yourself, focus on what’s most important and always be serving by lifting others around you up.

Jim Kwik

New York Times No 1 Best-Selling Author and World Leading Brain Performance Coach Jim Kwik gives First Ever TKE Talk

In the Spring of 2023, honorary initiate of Zeta Phi Chapter and world renowned expert in cognitive performance, Jim Kwik gave the keynote for the first TKE Talk to the Rollins community. Understanding that leadership requires superior cognitive performance, Kwik challenged the audience of students to address the aspects of themselves they wanted to improve, specifically information retention and accelerated learning techniques.

At first meeting skepticism from the crowd, Jim soon had everyone believing  he could deliver the goods demonstrating how he could quickly memorize and recite 20 random double digit numbers called out by the crowd both forward and backwards. He taught the students his concepts for accelerated learning and the most important aspects of supercharging the mind to ensure top performance as a student and a professional.
